About The Position

The Waste Specialist is responsible for the safe and compliant management of chemical waste, with a primary focus on controlling chemical pour-off processes. This role requires a strong understanding of proper chemical handling techniques, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work with a variety of hazardous materials in a regulated environment.

Requirements

Prior experience in chemical handling, waste management, or a related field preferred
Working knowledge of hazardous materials handling and disposal practices
Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Bilingual a plus
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with team
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in environments with chemical exposure (with proper PPE)
Ability to wear respirators or other protective equipment as required
Safety-focused mindset
Attention to detail and procedural compliance
Effective communication and teamwork
Ability to follow strict protocols and documentation standards

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification a plus
Forklift certified a plus

Responsibilities

Execute chemical pour-off activities in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements
Safely handle, transfer, and dispose of chemical waste, ensuring proper segregation and labeling
Provide training to SBM's EEs to ensure their familiarity with the chemical pour-off process and ability to work independently
Maintain full compliance with all site safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations
Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times during waste handling operations
Monitor and control waste streams to prevent contamination, spills, or exposure risks
Perform routine inspections of containers, storage areas, and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions
Accurately document waste handling activities, including logs, manifests, and incident reports
Respond to spills or emergencies in accordance with site response procedures
Collaborate with site personnel to ensure proper waste collection and disposal practices
