About The Position

Under the direction of the Diocesan and Cathedral Director of Liturgical Music, the On-Call Singer/Musician is responsible for singing in the Schola for some Sunday services and diocesan liturgical celebrations. A schola member shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in personal life. The role involves performing as a lay minister in support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission, adhering to Catholic principles in both professional and private life, and maintaining Church protocol with respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations.

Requirements

  • Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners and the general public.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times.
  • Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background and criminal history check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a lay minister in support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
  • Abide by Catholic principles in the singer’s professional and private life, and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
  • Perform as a singer for the assigned musical events.
  • Maintain Church protocol including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations.
  • Maintain open communications with volunteer musicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
