About The Position

The Musician supports the Catholic Church’s liturgical life by providing music that enhances worship, prayer, and congregational participation in accordance with Catholic liturgical traditions and parish guidelines.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency on piano, organ, guitar, voice, or another appropriate instrument.
Experience providing music for Catholic Mass or Christian worship preferred.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgy, the liturgical calendar, and sacred music preferred.
Ability to read music and work effectively with singers and instrumentalists.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Dependable, punctual, collaborative, and respectful of the sacred nature of the ministry.
Commitment to supporting the mission and worship life of the Catholic Church.

Responsibilities

Provide music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and other parish liturgies as assigned.
Accompany congregational singing through piano, organ, guitar, or other appropriate instruments.
Lead or support choirs, cantors, instrumentalists, and other music ministers.
Select and prepare music appropriate to the liturgical season, Scripture readings, and Catholic worship.
Attend rehearsals and coordinate effectively with clergy, parish staff, cantors, and volunteers.
Prepare music, accompaniment, and rehearsals in a timely and professional manner.
Encourage active participation by the congregation through confident and prayerful musical leadership.
Maintain instruments, music libraries, equipment, and related resources.
Follow parish policies and Catholic liturgical guidelines.
Participate in parish events, special services, and seasonal celebrations as needed.
