About The Position

Resolution Think is seeking an On-Call Nephrologist to provide intermittent, remote backup coverage in support of military medical operations at Nellis Air Force Base. This role is designed to supplement the full-time nephrologist when they are unavailable due to TDY, leave, or other absences, helping ensure continuity of care for beneficiaries served by the medical treatment facility. The primary mode of performance for this role is remote on-call availability. Contract personnel are not required to be on-site at the MOMMC unless specifically requested. The selected physician will provide telephonic or virtual nephrology consultation during scheduled on-call periods and must be prepared to report in person if medically necessary.

Requirements

  • Awarded degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada.
  • Degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)).
  • A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
  • Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
  • Must have been employed in the practice of Nephrology or in an accredited training program for 24 of the last 36 months.
  • Must have experience working in inpatient and outpatient in Nephrology to include management of patients undergoing chronic dialysis.
  • Completion of ABIM recognized internal medicine residency acceptable to the Defense Health Agency, as verified by submission of certificate to MOMMC Credentials Office.
  • Completion of an additional fellowship program in nephrology, which is acceptable to the Defense Health Agency, is mandatory.
  • Shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) (Course C) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • BLS/ACLS certifications must be through the American Heart Association or a Red Cross.
  • Current board certification or board eligible in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Permanent, full, and unrestricted Medical License to practice medicine in the state of Nevada.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote nephrology consultation to MTF staff during scheduled on-call periods.
  • Respond to calls typically lasting 10–15 minutes, covered under the on-call rate.
  • Be available to report to the MTF within 60 minutes if in-person evaluation is required.
  • If activated onsite, perform daily reassessment and reevaluation until care is completed.
  • Continue care until the patient is discharged, the case is signed off, or care is transferred back to the government nephrologist.
  • When in-person services are required, the on-call Nephrologist will provide in-house physical coverage for evaluation of current and new patients requiring services.
