About The Position

The On-Call Job Coach is responsible for providing on the job training and support at the participant’s place of employment in the community or at a Goodwill retail store. The role involves guiding and empowering participants by offering personalized job coaching and support based on their employment plan, with the goal of gradually reducing support as they become more independent. This position also includes case management duties such as evaluating and assessing participants on their job site, monitoring and documenting progress, providing customized instruction, and communicating effectively with employers. Operational excellence is key, requiring effective communication about participant progress and status with the Job Coach and District Lead, and attending required Goodwill trainings.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with disabilities and understand and communicate with diverse groups.
  • Ability to motivate and assist individuals in performing work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to complete case noting and reports outside of job coaching either virtually or at the Goodwill office.
  • Must have reliable transportation to various worksites with proof of insurance.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work day, evening, or weekend hours.
  • Must be willing to travel between the Rockford, Freeport, Sterling, McHenry, Huntley and Ottawa areas if needed.
  • Must successfully complete OIG training annually, and complete required training and program guidelines to meet CARF accreditation.
  • Must accept an assignment at least once every sixty days.
  • Must give twenty-four hours’ notice if unable to complete an assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess participants while on their job site.
  • Monitor and document participant’s progress on tasks.
  • Provide customized instruction and training to the participant based on employer needs.
  • Communicate effectively with employer to monitor participant’s progress and address any concerns.
  • Assist with staffing meetings for the participants.
  • Ensure participant confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively about participant’s progress and status with Job Coach and District Lead.
  • Attend required Goodwill trainings.
