About The Position

The Job Coach provides individualized job coaching and on-the-job support to Vocational Visions persons served enrolled in supported employment, paid internship, and job training programs. This position supports persons served in developing workplace skills, independence, and self-advocacy while collaborating with employers, families, and service coordinators to ensure successful employment outcomes. This role is perfect for compassionate individuals seeking purpose-driven work, career growth, and hands-on experience in human services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in psychology, human services, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Prior experience in job coaching, vocational training, or supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between persons served and employers.
  • Provide individualized instruction and coaching in job skills, workplace behavior, communication, and professional conduct.
  • Travel across Orange County in personal vehicle to provide coaching to persons served at their worksites (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Support persons served in building workplace relationships, self-advocacy, decision-making, and independence.
  • Develop instructional tools (e.g., job task checklists, visual supports, color-coded guides) to promote successful job performance.
  • Reinforce job skills and self-development to maximize persons served independence.
  • Address personal hygiene, workplace rules, breaks, and compliance with employer policies.
  • Monitor persons served performance, support productivity and behavior; collect feedback from employers.
  • Identify areas of progress and improvement and contribute to ongoing vocational training goals.
  • Prepare and update persons served goal plans and provide input to develop work plans.
  • Assist employers and staff with disability awareness, communication strategies, and job accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, persons served files, work output reports, and required records.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents, caregivers, and Regional Center service coordinators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including stepping in to substitute for absent Job Coaches.
  • Provide training and support to relief staff, new job coaches, and persons served.
  • Continue reinforcing job tasks as needed to support persons served success.
  • Complete all required training and certifications.
  • Treat all individuals with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
  • Adhere to all Vocational Visions policies and procedures.
