The individual occupying this position is responsible for providing direction to firefighters in areas of fire suppression, fire training, apparatus/equipment readiness, safety, and facility cleanliness. This role involves leading fire attack crews and/or functioning as a sector/division supervisor in wildland and structure fire emergencies. The Lieutenant will operate various firefighting equipment, ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, and maintain the readiness of apparatus and equipment. They will also participate in and assist with the development and delivery of training programs, recognize operational and training needs, and recommend solutions. Accurate and timely completion of various reports is essential. This position provides supervision, leadership, and direction to firefighters and engineers, including coaching, mentoring, progressive discipline, and work assignments. The Lieutenant will interface effectively with other emergency services personnel, attend required trainings and meetings, and demonstrate leadership competency during emergency operations. Adherence to established lines of authority and successful completion of non-emergency duties are also key responsibilities.
