The Field Supervisor reports to the Field Experience Coordinator. The position includes, but is not limited to, conducting meetings with cooperating teachers and teacher candidates at the start of the academic year to review expectations, policies, and procedures for the field experience. This role involves explaining SCU’s expectations for the cooperating teacher, discussing the field supervisor’s role in support, evaluation, and interaction throughout the year, and covering all items from the field supervisors’ orientation meeting. The supervisor will provide an overview of the program and SCU’s expectations, respond to cooperating teacher questions, and represent the SCU teaching credential program. Responsibilities include assisting with and validating the teacher candidate's completion of tasks on the Clinical Practice Checklist, supporting the teacher candidate by reviewing lesson plans and brainstorming solutions, observing, documenting, and evaluating teacher candidates’ professional practices at least once per month, and providing detailed feedback. The role also involves documenting formal observations, completing summative assessments, demonstrating SCU’s observation and evaluation forms to cooperating teachers, periodically checking in with cooperating teachers, holding benchmark meetings with teacher candidates and cooperating teachers to review assessments and determine readiness, and communicating regularly with Coordinators of Field Placement and the Director of Teacher Education regarding any concerns. Additionally, the supervisor will assist in preparing and completing a Field Experience Performance Plan when necessary and treat cooperating teachers and credential candidates with professional respect.
