About The Position

The On-Call Enhanced Visitation Specialist provides structured supervision of visits between children and parents referred by the Department of Children and Family Services, supporting families working toward reunification. This site-based program creates a safe, supportive environment where parents can strengthen parenting skills, build healthier relationships with their children, and improve long-term permanency outcomes. In this role, the specialist closely monitors parent-child interactions, documents for each visit, and offers real-time guidance through role modeling, coaching, and constructive feedback. Using a culturally responsive, strength-based approach, the On-Call EV Specialist promotes family well-being by delivering education, advocacy, and case management, while also connecting families to community resources and support services that reinforce stability and success.

Requirements

  • BA in Social Work/related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience in case management or related casework.
  • Experience in client interviewing, assessment, and service plan development.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required (reading, writing, and verbal).
  • Experience working with Latino immigrant population and understanding of immigrant issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high need environment.
  • Must possess good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and have excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Always maintain a professional demeanor and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be self-motivated, have excellent work ethic and be able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs specifically in both WORD and EXCEL.
  • Must complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index) after conditional offer is made.
  • Must have TB clearance.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in child welfare and/or case management, crisis intervention, peer counseling.
  • Education or training in Child, Adolescent and/or Family Development, or related field.
  • Certification or experience in the facilitation of parenting classes or other evidence-based curriculums.
  • Experience designing/modifying curricula.
  • Experience in Crisis Response and/or De-escalation training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure communication and interventions with visitors and participants are culturally relevant, acknowledge and value families' strengths, and are responsive to the multiple aspects of the diversity of the families served.
  • Supervise visits between child(ren) and their parent(s) and ensure children have age-appropriate opportunities for interaction with their parent(s) and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
  • Make appropriate referrals to Good Samaritan services and other community resources, and encourage/facilitate successful and continued access to those services.
  • Conduct Basic and Comprehensive Intakes through internal database (Salesforce, CMS) to new and returning Good Samaritan Participants which includes assessing needs, completing consent forms and keeping documents confidential.
  • Provide families referred by Family & Children Services with supportive, culturally responsive, nonjudgmental, and non-stigmatizing navigation services.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Child Welfare Worker regarding progress and challenges.
  • Collaborate with Child Welfare Worker to build enrichment programs/opportunities for each visit.
  • Oversee visits (minimum of 3 families/week, up to 3-6 hours per visit) with families enrolled in Enhanced Visitation Services.
  • Teach and model skills and strategies for accessing services, goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution, communication, parenting, and other areas relevant to family’s well-being.
  • Complete program reporting and program evaluation activities as required by DEC and Child Protective Services.
  • Research community services to identify relevant resources to incorporate into a resource information guide.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures during visitations.
  • Provide administrative support to staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Working closely with HSA staff and other partners to obtain referrals and ensure effective coordination of care.
  • Coordinate and schedule visitation appointments with legal guardians, foster parents and other involved parties to ensure timely, consistent, and well-organized family visits.
  • Attend Monthly Enhanced Visitation Provider meetings to coordinate services and supports to families receiving EV resources.
  • Attend mental health consultations, individual, team, agency, and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in a variety of case-related meetings at family, agency and multi-agency levels.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen skills in family engagement, visitation supervision, reunification support and other relevant position-related trainings.
  • Maintain intakes, case notes, files, and other documentation and data for each program activity.
  • Enter required registrations and attendance into database by assigned due date.
  • Maintain and prepare the visitation room, ensuring it is clean, safe, in good condition, and restocked with food and necessary supplies to create a welcoming environment for families.
  • Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting.
  • Ensure that programs and services are aligned with Good Sam’s Mission and Vision.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
