About The Position

DBS&A is seeking an on-call engineering intern entering their Junior or Senior year in college to join our diverse technical team. DBS&A is an engineering, water resources, and environmental consulting firm providing comprehensive services in groundwater and surface water hydrology and soil science. In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with a range of professionals with backgrounds in civil and environmental engineering; hydrology and geology; soil and environmental science; geographic information system (GIS) and computer aided design (CAD); and field and laboratory technology. As a subsidiary of Geo-Logic Associates (GLA), you will have access to 300 diverse professionals in 29 offices in the U.S. and Peru. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a civil or environmental engineering bachelor’s or graduate degree program at an accredited university at the time of application and throughout the duration of the internship, and will be entering at least your Junior year in Fall 2025.
  • Organized, have strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.
  • Can prioritize tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed.
  • Effective in a team environment that includes collaboration with engineers, hydrologists, and technical staff, as well as clients.
  • Highly effective in written and verbal communication and are comfortable addressing technical (e.g., other engineers, hydrogeologists) or layperson audiences.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams)
  • Must come in to the office during normal workday hours and set a consistent schedule.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or interest in gaining experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar software for managing geospatial data.
  • Providing examples of technical writing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the project team to compile necessary design documentation, including engineering calculations, drawings, technical specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, etc.
  • Compilation of technical data/data analysis
  • Preparing or editing drawings/ in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Working with vendors of proposed equipment and/or materials
  • Collecting field data and troubleshooting system and equipment operation
  • Preparing reports and technical memos under the supervision of an engineer or manager (providing examples of technical writing is a plus)
  • Construction documentation tracking and performing project SharePoint updates
  • Assisting the administration team with any necessary duties, such as filing and organizing
