On-Call Department Assistant

About The Position

This position will provide administrative support to both the Fiscal and Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation departments. A day in the life could include ordering ferry tickets, drafting correspondence to clients and transportation providers, auditing and authorizing transportation documentation, data entry, archiving files, monitoring the Fiscal mailbox for notices, and preparing purchase orders.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with databases, word processing and spreadsheets at an intermediate skill level.
  • Demonstrated organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret and categorize data rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to compose documents with proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, provider, and staff information.
  • Ability to work independently, including organizing and prioritizing assignments, drafting routine correspondence, trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agency personnel, and the general public using courtesy, tact and good judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with communities of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities.
  • Demonstrated ability, willingness and commitment to support an environment that advocates and creates a sense of belonging for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of institutional barriers to services.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; AND four or more years of experience providing administrative support in an office environment OR Associate’s degree in business administration or related field AND two or more years of experience providing administrative support in an office environment OR An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license, a vehicle available for work-related travel, and appropriate liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience working in human services setting preferred.
