About The Position

As a caregiver with us, you are the backbone of the organization and the first, last, and most frequent point of contact with residents each day. You will assist the resident in maintaining their independence and quality of life by performing tasks and duties to support the resident’s physical and psychological health. You must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and an empathetic understanding of the resident and their history and strengths. Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Please have reliable means of transportation/commuting to work.
  • Must be 18 to apply.
  • Genuine concern for and ability to work with the elderly.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision to the elderly.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and safety rules.
  • Ability to handle complaints, graciously.
  • Ability to transfer learned skills into care giving situations.
  • Must be able to utilize standard precaution knowledge and infection control measures where required.
  • Possess sufficient communication and language (orally and written) skills to perform job duties, interpret medical information and communicate with residents, other staff, family members, etc., as needed.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • CPR/first aid certification required depending on state requirements.
  • Must complete company and state regulatory training requirements, both “pre” and “post” service dates.
  • Stand/walk constantly, walk long distances occasionally throughout the day.
  • Sit infrequently.
  • Bends at waist, knees, hips and spine, frequently while lifting more than 10lbs but less than 50lbs.
  • Secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting of residents as needed (training required for this task)
  • Performs squats on a frequent basis to reach below knee requiring more than 10lbs but less than 40lbs.
  • Reaches on a constant basis while performing caregiving functions. May occasionally reach overhead requiring less than 10lbs, and below waist requiring less than 40lbs.
  • Performs a twist or rotation frequently at the trunk, hips, knees and neck while performing duties requiring 10 to 50 lbs.
  • Vision-must be able to read clearly with or without corrective lenses.
  • Hearing- must be able to hear telephone, audible alarms, bells, and signals related to resident safety, with or without hearing devices.
  • Speech/language-must have strong command of the English language sufficient to read and write and interpret medical information. Must be able to communicate with the residents and understand their needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with folks that have behavioral issues is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed treatments as outlined in the Medication Administration Record (MAR)
  • Deliver medications in a way that provides respect and dignity
  • Maintain patient stability by monitoring vital signs and weight, testing urine, recording intake and output information, and providing first aid wound care as needed
  • Accept and accurately perform delegated nursing tasks
  • Communicate with outside health care professionals in a professional manner
  • Maintain current resident record for each resident, including but not limited to obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting
  • Document events such as doctors' appointments, medication changes, etc.
  • Maintain, transcribe, and document in the MAR according to policy and procedure
  • Deliver services and assist with Activities of Daily Life (ADLs) as outlined in a resident's Service Plan (SP) with respect, empathy, competence, and encouragement throughout the resident's day.
  • Understand and follow each residents Service Plan
  • Assist with ADLs such as dressing, showering, toileting, incontinence care, eating, and grooming
