We are actively searching for a Banquet Prep Cook (On-Call) Job Summary The Banquet Prep Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality ingredients and food components for banquet and catering events at Beacon Grand while maintaining the culinary standards established by the Executive Chef. This position supports the banquet kitchen team in delivering exceptional food quality, consistency, presentation, and cleanliness for weddings, meetings, private events, and other luxury hotel functions. The ideal candidate works efficiently in a fast-paced environment, follows recipes and food safety standards, and contributes to the successful execution of elevated banquet experiences that reflect the service and hospitality standards of Beacon Grand.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a prep cook, line cook, or banquet cook in a hotel, catering, banquet, or high-volume kitchen environment preferred.
  • Basic knife skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques required.
  • Ability to follow recipes, production schedules, and verbal direction with precision.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prep tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Food Handler Certification required, or ability to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for banquet production, including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, portioning, and assembling food items.
  • Assist with the preparation of cold and hot menu items for banquet events, receptions, meetings, and special functions.
  • Follow standardized recipes, prep lists, production sheets, and chef instructions with accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain quality and consistency in all prepared products in accordance with Beacon Grand culinary standards.
  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate all food items in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Set up and stock prep stations with necessary ingredients and supplies for daily banquet production.
  • Support cooks and culinary team members with event preparation and production needs during high-volume periods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, prep area, storage space, and equipment throughout the shift.
  • Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Communicate effectively with culinary leadership and team members to ensure timely and efficient event execution.
  • Adhere to all hotel policies, health department regulations, and food handling procedures.
