About The Position

WSP USA is seeking multiple On-Call Archaeological Crew Chiefs for their St. Louis, MO, and Louisville, KY offices, with consideration for other locations within the Midwest and Southeast regions. This is an on-call, hourly position within the Cultural Resources Management Team, part of the Earth and Environment Team. The role involves assisting in fieldwork on Phase I, II, and III projects, contributing to the Heritage and Cultural Resources practice.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in anthropology / archaeology or a closely related field.
Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience.
At least six (6) months supervisory field experience in North American CRM archaeology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and be able to follow instructions.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with GPS technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in supervising fieldwork on Phase I, II, and III projects.
Perform archaeological test unit and shovel test excavation.
Excavate cultural features.
Recover and identify archaeological artifacts and other materials.
Use archaeological field forms to record archaeological data, including type and number of artifacts, soil color (Munsell) and soil textures, and other relevant information.
Document findings through detailed note taking.
Assist or lead other field team members.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
