About The Position
WeTheHobby is hiring an On Air Personality to host live-streamed sports card breaks and create an engaging experience for collectors. The role involves entertaining and educating viewers, interacting with fans, promoting products, and carefully handling high-value cards during live sessions. The On Air Personality will also collaborate with marketing on social media content, represent the brand at card shows and community events, and help improve audience engagement through feedback and creativity. The position is primarily desk-based and includes extended periods sitting or standing at a workstation. The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, or use stairs in an office environment, and must be able to lift and carry office equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The position is based on location in Rochester, New York. The anticipated pre-commission base salary is $60,000 annually; On-Air Personalities earn average combined total compensation of $75,000–$110,000 annually.
Requirements
- Genuine enthusiasm for sports and sports culture.
- Comfort in front of a camera and a lively, engaging personality.
- Organized and meticulous card handling, sorting, sleeving, and shipment preparation.
- Clear, charismatic, and personable verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in live broadcasting, sales, or eCommerce.
- Familiarity with Fanatics Live, Whatnot, and TikTok.
- Experience using streaming equipment.
- Knowledge of sports trading card break terminology, such as “case hit,” “1:1,” “parallel cards,” and “rookie autos.”
- A social media presence in the sports or hobby industry.
- Background in collectibles or related industries.
Responsibilities
- Host live-streamed sports card breaks, delivering entertaining and knowledgeable presentations.
- Engage with viewers by responding to questions and building relationships with fans.
- Promote current and upcoming products and explain their value to collectors.
- Handle, organize, and/or sleeve high-value products carefully during live sessions to ensure quality and accuracy for customers.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create social media content and expand WeTheHobby’s online reach.
- Represent the brand at card shows and community events, connecting with collectors and partners.
- Improve audience engagement and entertainment through feedback and creativity.
