About The Position

PBS SoCal is looking for a On-Air & Digital Fundraising Intern. Our content channels are available for free on internet-connected screens through the PBS and PBS KIDS App, as well as seven local broadcast channels including PBS SoCal and PBS SoCal Plus. A donor-supported community institution, PBS SoCal sparks the sharing of ideas at in-person cultural events and community conversations as well as delivers social impact through services that prepare our most vulnerable children for school.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Available for a minimum of 20, but no more than 30 hours per week
• Reliable transportation access for travel to in-person meetings and events
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro
• Possess a deep interest in the mission of PBS, education and video games
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders using tact and discretion
• Ability to take initiative and problem solve in areas related to direct responsibilities while working effectively in a team environment
• Ability to successfully perform in an atmosphere of experimental projects, shifting priorities, and deadlines

Responsibilities

• Edit YouTube episodes and shorts as well as broadcast TV pledge breaks and spots using Adobe Premiere Pro
• Create graphics and animation for use in the production
• Participate in pre-production meetings with the host and producer to make decisions regarding show content, review past episodes, recommend experts to appear as guests, and strategize around marketing
• Support the production team in recording in either our Burbank, CA, office or our Costa Mesa, CA studio two to three times during the internship, assisting with cameras, lights, audio, set design, and production decisions
• Coordinate craft services for the production team, including ordering and accepting delivery
• Participate in intern events and trainings in the Costa Mesa, CA and Burbank, CA offices
• Perform other duties as assigned
