About The Position

This position provides administrative and programmatic support to the Office of the Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (OMMIR). The role involves providing internal and external customer support, general administrative assistance, and logistical support for meetings and events. The position also facilitates information sharing, manages website content for accessibility compliance, and handles inquiries related to missing and murdered individuals. Additionally, the role may involve performing unusual tasks due to the program's unique nature and acting as back-up support for other positions within the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ). The OMMIR was established to serve as a liaison on behalf of the indigenous community on issues related to missing or murdered indigenous relatives, developing partnerships, collaborating with various entities, supporting a community volunteer advisory board, providing information to families, and developing training and education.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of professional administrative support experience including providing program support to an individual or a team
  • A combination of related education and relevant experience equal to four (4) years.
  • Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
  • Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam, a fingerprint based criminal history search, reference checking and a driving history.
  • Current valid driver's license at time of hire, and must obtain a Colorado-issued driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and to travel throughout the state in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the Office of the Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, including general administrative assistance and support for the Office Director and staff.
  • Provides logistical support and preparation for meetings and events.
  • Synthesizes and disseminates pertinent information to internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates information sharing with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Answers incoming calls and emails, screens and directs calls, and takes messages.
  • Prepares, provides, and exchanges information with external customers and the OMMIR Director and other staff, and refers them to the appropriate resources.
  • Maintains documents on the OMMIR website pages in collaboration with the DCJ public information officer (PIO), including adding new material, removing old material, and creating new pages.
  • Ensures compliance with digital accessibility regulations and requirements.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes inquiries and information related to missing and murdered individuals and subsequent investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the OMMIR Director, Division of Criminal Justice Director, or their designees.
  • Acts as back-up support, when appropriate, for others DCJ positions performing similar tasks.
