About The Position

Radio-Canada is seeking a creative and resourceful Olympic Researcher to support our Sports production team. This role involves researching, pitching, and developing content for general programming, ensuring it meets program mandates and complies with corporate standards and policies. The position is a contract role through March 31, 2027, and is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years’ relevant experience.
  • Broad general knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge of current events.
  • Excellent knowledge of the working language: French
  • Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English (BBB).
  • Advanced knowledge of research tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Research, pitch and develop content for general programming, ensuring it meets the programs’ mandates and complies with corporate standards and policies.
  • Stay ahead of Olympic and sports news trends while maintaining a network of contacts.
  • Pitch and develop compelling show segments and content for digital platforms.
  • Attend story meetings.
  • Pitch concepts, stories, interviews and story angles.
  • Research and select information, ideas, and written, audio and visual materials.
  • Identify and, if necessary, select interviewees.
  • Conduct pre-interviews.
  • Prepare interview question lines and scripts.
  • Prepare and present written and oral research briefs.
  • Follow up continuously with the host before and during the program.
  • Draft intros as needed.
  • Provide logistical support (scheduling, booking fees, parking arrangements, etc.) for guests, correspondents and panellists.
  • Brief guests, correspondents and panellists on the program’s content and rundown.
  • Maintain up-to-date research briefs on upcoming topics, track Olympic qualification standings and closely monitor athlete training and competition schedules.
  • When requested, conduct short interviews and present your research findings on air.
  • Perform basic editing tasks.
  • Assist with writing trivia or contest questions.
  • Screen audience calls and respond to inquiries.
  • Co-ordinate contributor segments.
  • Lead special research projects and compile sports stat sheets.
  • Carry out all other related tasks as needed.
