About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Offset Press Operator to produce high-quality print materials, including books, magazines, posters, and brochures. In this role, you will take ownership of the setup, operation, and daily maintenance of our offset presses. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong mechanical skills who can maintain strict quality standards while meeting tight deadlines in a high-volume production environment. Hours may vary, and the position may be either part-time or full-time based on production needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 36 months of advanced printing and duplicating experience related to digital and offset printing
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Read and understand complex written materials such as blueprints, metrics, or technical manuals
  • Able to work independently
  • Detail oriented for quality production
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple project and deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor multi-color offset printing presses, ensuring precise ink distribution, registration, and overall print quality.
  • Set up presses according to specific job requirements. This includes mounting plates, loading paper stock, adjusting ink fountains, and conducting make-ready runs to verify output.
  • Conduct continuous inspections throughout the production run. Monitor for defects in color accuracy, alignment, and density, making real-time machine adjustments as needed.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs. Troubleshoot mechanical and print-quality issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Prepare printed sheets for seamless handoffs to the finishing and bindery departments (cutting, folding, stitching, and so on).
  • Load and unload paper stock, move materials through the facility, and occasionally assist with preparing jobs for shipping or mailing.
  • Accurately read and interpret job tickets, production specifications, and technical manuals. Apply basic math for measurements and use internal software for job tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly follow all facility safety and environmental protocols.
