About The Position

The Officer Training and Safety - Automotive acts as a safety leader and technical trainer for automotive operations while supporting the Transload and Docks team. The role ensures employees are trained to perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company standards. The incumbent supports continuous improvement in safety performance, quality, operational readiness, and workforce development across automotive facilities.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of automotive operations, vehicle handling, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and incident investigation principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience using SAP, LMS platforms, Enablon, or similar systems.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of railway, automotive logistics, vehicle processing, or transportation experience.
  • Experience working in a safety, training, operational excellence, or leadership role.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automotive operations, vehicle handling, supply chain, or industrial environments is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Safety, Transportation, Automotive Technology, Operations Management, or a related field is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Train automotive employees on operating procedures, vehicle handling requirements, loading and unloading practices, quality standards, and safe work procedures.
  • Instruct, mentor, and coach employees on safety regulations, company policies, life critical rules, hazard recognition, defensive driving principles, and emergency response procedures.
  • Evaluate employee progress and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, reference guides, SOPs, and learning resources.
  • Conduct annual competency assessments and refresher training.
  • Maintain training records and ensure training events are recorded in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Support onboarding and qualification of new employees.
  • Perform field observations, coaching sessions, and safety audits.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections of automotive facilities and vehicle processing areas.
  • Lead and support local safety committees and action plans.
  • Participate in risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and ergonomic reviews.
  • Assist with incident, injury, vehicle damage, and near-miss investigations.
  • Facilitate regular safety meetings and communications.
  • Analyze injury, damage, and safety trend data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
