About The Position

Reporting directly to the Manager, Facilities, this role is responsible for leading physical security enforcement and safety response across Town-owned facilities. You will maintain a highly visible presence through proactive patrols, incident response, risk mitigation, and enforcement activities to ensure the safety and security of staff, patrons, and Town assets. You will be responsible for responding to security alerts, emergencies, behavioural incidents, and supporting emergency preparedness initiatives across municipal facilities.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Law Enforcement, Security Management, Police Foundations, Criminology or a closely related field
  • Valid Security Guard Licence in accordance with the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 34
  • Active CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Valid Provincial Security Guard licence
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in security enforcement, by-law enforcement or a similar field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in field response involving medical emergencies, alarm response and incident management
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in advanced de-escalation, specifically within public-facing or high-traffic community environments
  • Demonstrated experience responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, preparing detailed reports, and exercising sound judgment in high-pressure situations
  • Superior communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check or criminal record check
  • Proof of qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first responder to security alerts, alarms, emergencies, behavioural incidents, and potentially volatile situations across Town facilities
  • Conduct proactive patrols and inspections of Town-owned and operated properties to deter criminal activity, unauthorized access, vandalism, and safety risks
  • Investigate suspicious activities, manage incident scenes, issue warnings or Trespass Cautions, and liaise with emergency services and enforcement agencies as required
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, support fire drills, lockdowns and evacuations, and oversee third-party security providers to ensure service standards are met
  • Support community events and facility operations by implementing effective security measures, providing customer service excellence, and performing emergency first aid services
