Churchill County is accepting applications for a full-time, regular Office Specialist position within the Public Works Planning and Building Department. This position provides essential clerical and administrative support to department operations and serves as a primary point of contact for the public and internal staff. The Office Specialist acts as the department receptionist, interacts daily with members of the public, contractors, and County employees, and assists with the preparation of documents, correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets. Additional duties are performed as assigned to support efficient and effective department functioning. Clerical experience in a construction, public works, or related environment is desirable. As a full-time, regular position, the person hired would be enrolled in the Nevada PERS retirement system. In addition to the salary paid, the county contributes an additional 36.75% into PERS on the employee's behalf (value of $8.18/hour or $17,000 annually). In addition, the employee will not contribute to Social Security, resulting in an additional 6% in take-home pay (an equivalent of $1.34/hour or $2,700 annually). The county also pays 100% for employee-only health insurance premiums (equivalent to $6.49/hour or $13,500 annually). An employee in this position will also receive full accruals of vacation leave (8 hours per month) and sick leave (10 hours per month), in addition to 8 hours for pay for 11 paid holidays.
