About The Position

The Central Virginia Health District (CVHD) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Office Services Specialist Supervisor to support its mission of protecting and promoting the health of communities across Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Lynchburg. This role oversees daily administrative operations, ensures efficient workflow, and provides leadership to office support staff in a fast-paced public health environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to guide a team in delivering high-quality customer service to both internal programs and the public. Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of supervisory principals/practices, financial guidelines and accounts receivable policies/procedures.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work and contribute within collaborative relationships, including the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage changing priorities, and respond effectively in time-sensitive or emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Considerable experience supervising administrative, fiscal, and/or clerical staff, including oversight of multiple office locations.
  • Experience managing financial processes such as accounts receivable, patient and third-party billing, deposits, and monthly fiscal reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex eligibility determinations in a healthcare, insurance, or public services environment.
  • Experience supporting or managing front-office operations, including customer service, records requests, and workflow coordination.
  • Knowledge of vital records procedures, confidentiality requirements, and customer-facing service standards.
  • Strong proficiency with billing systems and processes, serving as a central point of contact for invoicing and financial documentation.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and implement state and local policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
