About The Position

Position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive attitude and tactful communication with internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all age groups (Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Shows responsiveness to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency.
  • Manages communication, including answering and transferring calls, handling orders/messages, and performing phone triage for physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Handles scheduling for referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
  • Maintains medical records, including documentation, chart maintenance, filing/pulling, image files, faxing, copying, and mail.
  • Performs laboratory duties including phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, proficiency testing, and results reporting.
  • Manages medications, including administration via various routes (IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, oral, topical, suppository, sublingual, inhalants), storage, handling, and ordering/maintaining levels.
  • Provides patient care, including exam room preparation and maintenance, conducting patient interviews, chaperoning, assisting/performing minor procedures, triage, implementing physician orders, patient education, results reporting, and clinical documentation.
  • Operates and is responsible for equipment, including routine maintenance, ordering supplies, log sheets, and cleaning for general office equipment, patient care equipment, and specialized equipment (e.g., X-Ray, Bone Density, Ultrasound, Treadmill, Laboratory Equipment, Laser Equipment, Defibrillator, Holter Monitors, Cardiac Pacemakers).
  • Participates in in-service/education, including maintaining certification/licensure and competency through department orientation and annual training.
  • Maintains log sheets/audits for samples, pharmacy, Mayday equipment, oxygen, and equipment.
  • Manages instruments, including stocking, cleaning/sterilization, knowledge of usage, and storage.
  • Provides support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
  • Handles precertification/authorization, coding (E&M/Basic Visits, Office Procedures/Complex Visits, Surgeries, Hospital Services), correspondence, statistical reports, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
