About The Position

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses. This position is with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An associate degree in any field; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Spanish bilingual skills are required for this position. The successful candidate must be able to speak, read, write, and interpret Spanish fluently, and will earn 5% more than the salary listed on this announcement.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as receptionist for OR-OSHA’s Central office by directing visitors to appropriate locations within the office and responding to phone inquiries from public and private employees, employers, state agencies, and other organizations and stakeholders regarding Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division’s program responsibilities and services
  • Providing technical support for the Records Management section and Citation Processing sections by reviewing employer citations for errors and verifying for consistency, and preparing citations for mailing
  • Coordinating the purchase of office supplies and material for 73+ Central Office staff
  • Coordinating and arranging registration for all OR-OSHA staff training needs
