About The Position

The Office Engineer provides support in various aspects of engineering construction, including basic planning, design review assistance, construction observations, and quality and safety documentation. Under close supervision, they follow established procedures and guidelines to perform assigned tasks. They apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. This position performs routine technical work which requires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. The Office Engineer works under the direction of senior staff to ensure compliance with project requirements. This position has the potential to be in the field up to 30% and may work nights and weekends on occasion. We are seeking a candidate in the Pomona, Orange County or Southern California area as this position will work in office on a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • Proficiency with electronic communication including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Understand engineering plans
  • Understand SharePoint
  • Possess basic oral and written communication skills
  • Interact with other staff

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an engineering intern in a related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) – could be obtained while in this category

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and/or documents
  • Perform standard computations or analysis
  • Maintain document control systems to support ongoing projects, ensuring proper filing and retrieval processes
  • Assist in the preparation or review of drawings, sketches, and visual aids. Any review of documents will be performed under direct supervision
  • While performing tasks, elevate concerns to supervisors using appropriate discretion
  • Assist in the preparation of scope of work packages for construction task orders and requests for bids
  • Assist in observing and documenting construction activities on-site as directed, report findings to senior staff or supervisors for review
  • Review Invoices, daily production reports and daily inspection reports
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
