About The Position

The Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking to hire an Office Associate to serve as the initial point of contact for Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests submitted to the department. This position will also assist the FOIA Officer with responding to requests, create and keyboard a variety of documents, serve as receptionist for the FOIA office, and establish and maintain administrative files. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and can effectively multi-task.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the initial point of contact for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests submitted to the Department.
  • Assists the FOIA Officer with responding to FOIA requests.
  • Creates and keyboards charts, statistical reports, documents, forms, memoranda, and letters including legal terminology where an understanding of specialized terms is required to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Serves as receptionist for the Privacy/FOIA office.
  • Establishes and maintains administrative files concerning confidential information.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
