About The Position

The PT Pooled Sanitation (Office Assistant) performs a variety of routine clerical and customer service duties in support of the Sanitation Department. Assists with basic office operations to help ensure efficient daily workflow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a municipal or public works environment.
  • Prior clerical or office experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Basic knowledge of office recordkeeping or data entry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists walk-in customers and provides general information.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and routes them to appropriate staff; takes messages as needed.
  • Assists with preparing basic correspondence, forms, and reports.
  • Performs data entry for service requests and maintains simple records.
  • Receives and distributes incoming mail; prepares outgoing mail.
  • Makes copies, scans documents, and sends/receives faxes as needed.
  • Maintains and organizes filing systems (electronic and paper).
  • Assists with tracking and maintaining office and department supply inventory.
  • Supports staff with scheduling meetings and basic administrative tasks.
  • Assists with processing simple requisitions or documentation as directed.
  • Maintains a clean and organized front office/work area.
  • Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses.
  • Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
