About The Position

The Student Association (SA) at SUNY Geneseo is seeking an Office Assistant to provide administrative, operational, and customer service support. This role is crucial for the efficient daily operation of the office and serves as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. The Office Assistant will support office administration, recordkeeping, event preparation, and general customer service, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment. The Student Association's mission is to advance and develop undergraduate student life by advocating for and engaging students to provide services, programs, and opportunities that enhance their liberal arts education and promote leadership.

Requirements

  • Previous office, customer service, administrative, or leadership experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and involvement will be considered.
  • Extensive computer use
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, bending, and movement throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors in person, by phone, and through email
  • Answers general questions regarding Student Association programs, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional, organized, and welcoming office environment
  • Performs clerical duties including filing, scanning, copying, data entry, and document preparation.
  • Assists with maintaining office records, forms, and administrative documentation
  • Assists with meeting preparation, including scheduling, room reservations, agenda materials, and note-taking as needed
  • Monitors and replenishes office supplies as needed.
  • Assists with office opening and closing procedures
  • Supports Student Association events, programs, meetings, and special projects
  • Provides administrative support to professional staff and student leaders
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive organizational, financial, and personnel information
  • Assists with scheduling, calendars, and general office coordination
  • Operates standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, scanners, and copiers
  • Performs a wide range of administrative and operational tasks as assigned
  • Other duties may be assigned to support departmental and organizational goals
