About The Position

The IRMC Physician Group is seeking a Full Time Office Assistant for their Orthopedic office in Blairsville. This role involves greeting patients, managing registrations, handling patient information, scheduling appointments, processing payments, and maintaining a clean and organized office environment. The position requires adherence to HIPAA and other confidentiality rules, and may involve travel to other IPG offices.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of medical terms and abbreviations.
  • Understanding of confidentiality laws governing the patient/physician relationship.
  • Ability to make a great first impression and sustain it.

  • Ability to operate automated systems, computers, and fax machines.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Greets and registers incoming patients and visitors.
  • Retrieves, reviews, and processes patient registration forms.
  • Collects, scans, and updates patient personal and financial information.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility for all patients and works insurance eligibility alerts.
  • Collects patient payments and provides receipts.
  • Retrieves messages from answering service/voicemail.
  • Answers and directs telephone calls.
  • Works Cerner message center pools and completes messages.
  • Schedules patient appointments.
  • Maintains copays, petty cash logs, and receipts.
  • Forwards medical record requests to HIM.
  • Monitors patient reminder system for cancellations, reschedules, and no-shows.
  • Follows HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Security rules.
  • Accepts and signs for mail parcels and deliveries.
  • Practices sterile techniques and universal precautions when accepting specimens.
  • Provides clerical supply needs to lead or manager.
  • Maintains an orderly, neat, and clean front desk area and waiting room.
  • Retrieves faxes from the fax machine.
  • Obtains prior authorizations for testing and procedures.
  • Travels to other IPG offices when needed.
  • Performs other tasks as requested.
