Under general supervision, to do a wide variety of clerical work of average difficulty, some of which involves the use of a computer; to do related work as required. This is the fully qualified, experienced working level. Positions in this class are filled by advancement from the lower level class of Clerk Typist, or when filled from outside the classified service, require prior clerical experience. An Intermediate Clerk Typist works under general supervision, and within a framework of established procedures, is expected to perform a wide variety of computer and general clerical duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. Adequate performance at this level requires a knowledge of departmental procedures and precedents, and the ability to choose among a number of alternatives in solving problems. Work is normally reviewed only on completion and for overall results, and mistakes may often be evident only from complaints or from the presence of substantial inaccuracies in departmental records. Employees in this class may have frequent contact with students, teachers and the public, answering a variety of procedural questions or giving out information from established departmental records.
