About The Position

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking interested candidates for an Office Assistant 2 Calculations position in Albany to assist the Licensing Unit within the Division of Food Safety and Inspection. Responsibilities include issuing licenses, maintaining food establishment information within the licensing database, maintaining unit spreadsheets of license statuses and conveying same to field staff, Versa data entry and fee calculation and documentation, processing refunds, generating jurisdictional letters and other related correspondence. The Office Assistant 2 Calculations is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, and is conveniently located at 10B Airline Drive in Albany. This location provides ample free parking and a professional work environment.

Requirements

  • One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
  • One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.
  • One year of permanent, competitive service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
  • One year of permanent, competitive service in a title designated as appropriate for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
  • Previous permanent New York State employees who resigned their positions may be reinstated to their former positions, or to positions to which they were eligible for transfer or reassignment without further examination.
  • Employees separated from their positions may be reinstated within one year of the date of their separation.
  • Employees separated from their positions who have also been separated from state service for more than one year may be reinstated upon approval by the state Civil Service Commission.
