About The Position

This position provides administrative support for the Department of Economics, chair, faculty, and students. The Department of Economics is a growing department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED/equivalent required, with some college preferred
  • 3-5 years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Compose, review, and edit documents for completeness, content, and compliance with regulatory and legal standards.
  • Correspond with students, alumni, and prospective students on behalf of the Chair or faculty.
  • Assist students in declaring their major or minor and facilitate the submission of various forms to the Dean's Office or Registrar's Office.
  • Coordinate the student evaluation of teaching process, informing faculty of the evaluation timeline, preparing evaluation packets, and tracking completion and collection of materials.
  • Submit expense requests and expenses to procurement and prepare budget requests for the Department Chair and faculty. Prepare financial reports (including reports on Professional Development funds).
  • Prepare electronic payroll action forms for adjunct faculty.
  • Maintain office records for the department.
  • Take minutes at departmental meetings.
  • Work at front desk to greet students and visitors.
  • Answer department phone calls.
  • Draft and edit letters, announcements, and other documents as needed.
  • Interact with facilities and IT any time a need arises, in the department.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing departmental events and functions (e.g., seminars with external speakers, conferences, Department Retreats, Commencement, Orientation/Registration, Open House, honors Society Receptions, Graduating Students Reception, etc.).
  • Maintain and order supplies for the department.
  • Participate in Peoplesoft implementation and maintenance including Human Resources, Time & Labor, Financials, Purchasing, and Student Administration.
  • Prepare reports using Summit, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint as needed.
  • Assist the department with administrative duties related to faculty searches and preparation of payroll action forms.
  • Assist faculty and department with advising and maintain the department calendar.
  • Collaborate with SIS as needed, to aid the Department Chair and Undergraduate Program Coordinators in preparing and overseeing advising lists and graduation lists for submission to the College.
