About The Position

SA Recycling is looking for an energetic and highly organized individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. In this role you will be responsible for general administrative and clerical duties to support the Office Manager. Must have Computer skills, Customer service, Shipping and receiving. Adaptable and capable of learning operations of the scale. This role requires the ability to work independently, be flexible, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects at a time. This position may require you to work intermittently outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Attendance is a must
  • 2+ years’ experience office assistant experience in a construction or industrial production yard or similar industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn industry specific software.
  • Must be able to pass Background and credit check
  • Must be able to pass preemployment physical/Drug screen
  • All US applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • previous scrap metal experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Working independently with heavy use of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Communicating professionally with email, texting, Instant Messaging, and other platforms.
  • Phone etiquette that includes taking messages, notes, follow-up calls, scheduling with accuracy.
  • Reading and understanding typical communication e.g., transaction tickets, emails, invoices, DMV paperwork, environmental government agency documentation, and safety documentation.
  • Working with other employees and departments, including supporting and back up for Dispatch – managing shipment schedules, assign and dispatch drivers for load pick up and/or deliveries, plan routes, and prove rate quotes and analysis while keeping a high level of customer service and support for our drivers and suppliers.
  • Assistant to Buyer – assist Buyer with their Commercial, Industrial and Dealer (individual) accounts for both Ferrous (FE) and Non-Ferrous (NF) materials.
  • Weighmaster – operating in-bound and out-bound scales; directing drivers to the appropriate areas for unloading; facilitating payment for in-bound material; and completing all required documentation.
  • The Weighmaster will also perform basic office tasks
  • Keeping work areas neat and orderly and clean work area at the end of shift
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
