OFCI Manager (Electrical & Mechanical) (Mission Critical)

Clark Construction Group, LLC•Reno, NV

About The Position

The OFCI (Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed) Manager oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of owner-provided equipment for mission-critical construction. The role connects logistics, technical commissioning, and relationship management to ensure high-value electrical and mechanical equipment is ready to receive, install, and energize at the site without delaying the critical path. Equipment includes switchgear, generators, UPS units, chillers, and CRAH units. The manager is the primary technical liaison among the client’s procurement team, equipment vendors, and onsite MEP trade partners. The role coordinates equipment from factory testing through delivery, installation, startup, commissioning, and handover, including equipment tracking, technical review, quality inspections, schedule integration, risk mitigation, asset tracking, and spare-parts handoff. This is an active, hands-on position with frequent time on construction sites and some office work. The employee must adapt to weather, moderate to loud noise, elevated or confined areas, and moving mechanical equipment, and follow company safety policies and applicable laws. The role requires flexibility for extended hours during critical project phases or client deadlines, and responsiveness to time-sensitive matters and emergencies outside regular hours. A pre-employment drug fitness-for-duty screening and random quarterly tests are required.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in mission-critical construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Deep understanding of medium- and low-voltage switchgear, UPS systems, static transfer switches, and backup generators.
  • Proficiency in chilled water systems, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, and DCIM integration.
  • Proficiency with BIM 360 or Procore and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on foot at active construction sites, navigate uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists, and perform bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and visually inspect work and read plans.
  • Ability to work in varied weather, moderate to loud noise, elevated or confined work areas, and around moving mechanical equipment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during critical project phases or client deadlines and respond to time-sensitive issues or emergencies outside regular hours.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug fitness-for-duty screening and submit to random quarterly fitness-for-duty tests.

  • Lead in-process inspections and, upon delivery, conduct pre-offloading damage assessments and verify that components, O&M manuals, and spare parts are present.
  • Serve as the onsite point of contact for vendor technicians during installation and startup of specialized equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Project Scheduler to integrate equipment lead times and commissioning windows into the construction schedule.
  • Identify installation gap items not supplied by the Owner or subcontractor, such as mounting hardware or specialized oils and coolants.
  • Participate in the customer’s VDC meetings to ensure OFCI equipment matches site conditions and phased builds.
  • Manage receipt of modularized units, such as power skids and prefabricated cooling blocks, requiring precision rigging and specialized grounding.
  • Use customer-specific asset management tools to track equipment serial numbers from the factory to the data hall.
  • Coordinate Level 3 pre-functional and Level 4 functional performance testing and ensure equipment communicates with customer monitoring systems.
