About The Position

The OCS Specialist maximizes and supports the use of the OCS for organ retrieval and transport prior to, during and after transplantation. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, rigorous hands-on training and OCS certification across all organ platforms, applying OCS knowledge during organ retrieval, preservation, transport, and assessment according to TransMedics protocols and policies. When not on OCS call days, the specialist will perform assigned tasks during standard working hours, either remotely or as assigned, including managing inventory & shipments, assisting with lab trainings, participating in R&D activities, establishing launch points, and participating in medical and scientific conferences. The role also involves regular communication with Organ Management Phone Support for real-time updates on OCS cases, submitting post-case documentation, preparing case reviews, and providing customer support such as hospital in-services and refresher training. Other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

BSN or BS degree in combination with equivalent medical experience
2+ years’ experience in ICU, ECMO, Cath Lab, OR, Transplant, and ED.
Must be able to lift 75lbs up and down stairs.
Must be fully vaccinated (and boosted, when eligible) against respiratory viruses including but not limited to Influenza and COVID-19.
Ability to work on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for 15 days per month (including holidays/weekends)
Ability to fly domestically to clinical sites within and outside of home regions to perform OCS support as assigned.

Responsibilities

Completion of rigorous hands-on training and OCS certification across all organ platforms at TransMedics’ training facility in Andover, MA.
Apply OCS knowledge during organ retrieval, preservation, transport, and assessment according to TransMedics protocols and policies.
Managing inventory & shipments on a weekly basis
Assist with Lab Trainings
Participate in R&D activities in lab
Assist with establishing launch points
Participate in medical and scientific conferences and meetings (inside or outside the US)
Communicate regularly with Organ Management Phone Support to relay real time updates while supporting ongoing OCS cases
Regularly communicate OCS utilization activities and users’ feedback
Annual recertification on all organ platforms
Timely submission of post case documentation and preparation/presentation of case reviews (with support and review of senior colleague) following the use of the OCS
Provide customer support as needed (e.g. hospital in-services & refresher training)
Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.
