About The Position
FOX Rehabilitation is seeking licensed Occupational Therapy Assistants to provide hands-on, individualized care to older adults in patients’ homes and senior living communities in Elizabeth, Roselle, Roselle Park, and surrounding New Jersey communities. Using FOX’s Geriatric House Calls™ model, the OTA works closely with a supervising Occupational Therapist to carry out individualized treatment plans and help patients rebuild strength, mobility, confidence, and independence. The role offers one-on-one patient care and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and Fitness Specialists. OTAs receive mentorship from a supervising OT and opportunities to develop their clinical skills, caseload, and career. FOX offers full-time, part-time, and PRN/FOX Flex employment pathways. Compensation depends on experience and employment type; the stated New Jersey base pay range is $21.63–$36.06 per hour, with opportunities to earn more.
Requirements
- Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state(s) of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of in-home and community-based care, including lifting, performing CPR, assisting with patient transfers and bed mobility, extensive walking, and driving to care locations.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized treatment plans established by the supervising Occupational Therapist, adjusting activities based on patient response and progress.
- Instruct, motivate, and safeguard patients during therapeutic exercises and functional activities, while observing and tracking their progress.
- Document visits accurately and on time in FOX’s EMR system in accordance with FOX’s Clinical Documentation standards.
- Stay connected with patients, powers of attorney (POAs), and community referral sources, and help coordinate coverage when needed.
- Provide care in patients’ homes and senior living communities, including driving between locations as part of the Geriatric House Calls™ model.
- Collaborate with the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team.
