About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) provides skilled therapeutic services to patients in their homes to support functional independence and improve daily living skills. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the OTA implements individualized treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and documents outcomes in compliance with physician orders and regulatory requirements. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and effective rehabilitation in the home care environment. Compensation includes per-visit-point pay for visits and hourly pay for certain non-visit activities. The stated annual total cash target assumes full-time employment at 40 hours per week and full productivity. Pay varies based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, productivity, and performance. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered to external candidates. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.

Requirements

Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA or successor organizations.
Current license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the assigned state.
Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapy assistants.
Current CPR certification.
At least 1 year of related occupational therapy assistant experience. Candidates with less than 1 year require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or a residency program.
Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Pass a drug test before beginning employment.

Responsibilities

Provide skilled interventions according to the physician-approved plan of care and under the direction and supervision of an occupational therapist.
Document each visit according to AOTA documentation guidelines and accepted regulatory standards for the patient's clinical record.
Observe, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising OT, physician, and appropriate clinical staff.
Provide patients and caregivers with resources for future ADL/IADL needs.
Promote wellness and prevention through occupational engagement.
Demonstrate knowledge of available community resources and services.
Make recommendations for follow-up care in coordination with the care center that admitted the patient or client.
Keep abreast of occupational therapy trends and knowledge related to service provision, documentation, and care coordination.
Perform other duties as assigned.
