About The Position

Lifemark Physiotherapy Elmsdale is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Canadians. As an OT at Lifemark, you will provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. You will also play a pivotal role in supporting veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive, and mental wellness goals. This role involves providing comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services, applying clinical expertise in assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up. You will perform clinical evaluations, identify equipment needs, consult with vendors, and provide education on various aspects of daily living and adaptive equipment. The position requires recording assessments and interventions, excelling in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment, and exhibiting sound professional judgment.

Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted
Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required
In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check
In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)
Proficiency in computer skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred
Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development
Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills
Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients
Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients
Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments
Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations
Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties
Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety
Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart
Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment
Exhibit sound professional judgment
