About The Position

The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts an occupational therapy program to facilitate rehabilitation for people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The role directs patients’ participation in selected activities and treatments to restore, reinforce, and correct pathology and to promote or maintain good health. The position rotates between the Mentor and South Euclid locations and is scheduled four days per week, for 36 hours.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Demonstrate evaluation and treatment skills appropriate to the developmental and chronological ages of patients on the caseload.
• Demonstrate professional initiative, objectivity, good time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Be physically, cognitively, and perceptually able to provide patient treatment and assist with the physical mobility of patients and equipment.
• Hold a license to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Ohio.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop effective treatment plans appropriate to their rehabilitation needs within the care continuum.
• Perform treatment techniques competently and effectively.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about applicable health information, treatment, and prevention.
• Initiate and participate in discharge planning.
• Complete department activities, including documentation, billing, and support of department operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
• Follow requirements for the safe and secure handling of patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI), including applicable training, the UH Code of Conduct, and organizational policies and procedures.
