About The Position

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital’s Psychiatric Occupational Therapy Department is accepting applications for a Temporary Exempt position. Under general supervision of the Senior Occupational Therapist, the 2548 Occupational Therapist assesses, plans, and implements mental health group and individual occupational therapy interventions with patients in the psychiatric emergency department, inpatient acute unit, sub-acute unit, and jail-psych unit. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services. The applicant pool resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future and current vacancies in this class at other locations within the DPH.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Occupational Therapy License issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT).
  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with people with chronic and acute mental illness in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • Experience working with people who have mental health with co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Experience facilitating Psychiatric Occupational Therapy individual and group treatment sessions.
  • Experience using Motivational Interviewing skills.
  • Experience using Sensory Modulation interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans, and implements occupational therapy evidenced based group and individual treatment sessions
  • Documents evaluations and treatment sessions
  • Communicates and collaborates with treatment team members and patients regarding progress of treatment
  • The 2548 may perform other duties as assigned/required.
