About The Position

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) for its outpatient services. RHI, recognized as a leading rehabilitation hospital, specializes in treating patients with life-changing injuries or illnesses, including brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and complex medical conditions. As the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S., RHI offers evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for individuals aged 15 and older. This part-time role involves providing comprehensive occupational therapy services, including evaluations, interventions, equipment recommendations, and modality application, all under physician referral. The OT will administer evaluations, develop patient-centered treatment plans, ensure medical necessity and evidence-based practices, document services accurately, and provide clinical supervision to support staff and students.

Requirements

  • Must possess an Occupational Therapy Degree from an accredited program.
  • Must be registered/certified by National Board for Certification of OTs
  • Occupational Therapist IN state license required.
  • Must have current CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards or be able to obtain within 4 weeks of start date

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year adult neuro rehab experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administers OT evaluations to inpatients and/or outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation population.
  • Develops a patient-centered treatment plan based upon the evaluation, patient goals and age-related issues/needs to optimize treatment and function.
  • Assures the treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
  • Ensures the treatment plan is revised/updated appropriately per policy, communicated to appropriate team members including attendance at team conferences, and reviewed and signed off by referring physician (as appropriate).
  • Accurately completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and appropriate medical necessity.
  • Charges appropriately for services provided and appropriately documents outcome measures.
  • Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and students according to state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines.
  • Assures that patient care interventions provided by assistants and students are appropriate for the patient's plan of care.
