Directs the evaluation, development, coordination, and implementation of occupational therapy intervention provided to patients. Serves as a patient advocate assuring the delivery of occupational therapy meets legal, ethical and institutional standards while adhering to the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the department and the organization. For the Senior Occupational Therapist role, responsibilities include providing evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning; documenting patient progress and billing; communicating patient information; participating in rounds, clinics, and case conferences; meeting required competencies; delegating duties and monitoring service delivery to COTA and Rehabilitation Aide; supervising students; participating in training and supervision of entry-level therapists and mentoring; participating in and providing in-service/continuing education/research/teaching opportunities; participating and assisting with quality assurance activities; attending seminars and webinars; participating in community programs; and adhering to internal controls and reporting structure.
