The Staff Occupational Therapist provides evaluation and treatment of acute inpatients and Inpatient rehab patients. The Rehabilitation Services Staff Occupational Therapist provides evaluation and treatment of hospital inpatients and outpatients in a range of specialty programs. This role involves maintaining good rapport and cooperative relationships, approaching conflict constructively, and helping to identify and resolve problems. The therapist must maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information, behave in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values and policies of Chelsea Hospital. They are responsible for performing job duties safely, assuring personal and coworker safety, and reporting hazards. The role requires self-directed learning, providing quality patient care considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs, and demonstrating unit/area competencies. The therapist will identify and assist in resolving safety, sanitation, and maintenance issues, practice effective communication, and promote a positive work environment through teamwork. Responsibilities include orienting patients and families to therapy purposes and procedures, conducting thorough occupational therapy evaluations, creating appropriate plans of care, and instructing patients and families in individualized home programs. The therapist will participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities, pursue their own professional growth and education, and contribute to staff development. They will also supervise Occupational Therapy fieldwork students as assigned and stay up-to-date on participating insurance guidelines. Thorough, timely documentation of patient interactions is required, including all pertinent information mandated by state law, accrediting agencies, and third-party payers. Completing daily charges ethically per insurance guidelines and working with management to ensure schedules achieve targeted productivity and budget are also key functions. Participation in regularly scheduled staff meetings is expected.
