About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist at Lifemark Physiotherapy Mayor Magrath in Lethbridge, you will contribute to enhancing the health and well-being of Canadians by providing comprehensive, evidence-based occupational therapy services. This role involves working with a diverse client base, including those recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries, as well as supporting veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, and first responders. The position emphasizes a holistic approach and collaboration within a diverse and inclusive team environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities, and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (in some cases).
  • Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months) (in some cases).
  • Proficiency in computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Clinical experience in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients.
  • Apply clinical expertise in assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, and specialized seating and positioning assessments.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate equipment needs.
  • Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete funding applications.
  • Provide education on seating and positioning, activities of daily living, wheelchairs, and adaptive aids.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
