About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OTR) is responsible for the service delivery process, including patient screenings, assessment, and evaluation. They implement occupational therapy treatment plans, collaborate with other disciplines, and independently review outcomes to modify intervention programs. Clinical reasoning and professional judgment are crucial for patient safety and liability protection. The OTR may supervise support personnel like occupational therapy assistants and clerical staff, maintain equipment, and participate in educational, research, and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • License or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department
  • Graduation from Accredited Occupational Therapy Program
  • Adheres to OTR licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to facilitate patient participation and occupational performance within the home environment.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual treatment programs.
  • Monitors and reassesses the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
  • Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with support personnel and patient family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.
  • Participates in team discussions in an articulate, positive, and productive manner.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in proper working order and performs routine repairs.
  • Instructs staff in principles used in occupational therapy, including activities of daily living, increasing motor skills, adaptive equipment use, patient safety, and other techniques specific to individual patient care.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attends departmental/business staff development activities.
  • Maintains proficiency in occupational therapy by attending workshops, conferences, and trainings.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in Company committees as requested by supervisor.
  • May represent the Company while participating in community outreach events, activities, meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Responds to emergency situations in a competent manner.
  • Adheres to OTR licensure requirements.
  • Adheres to established Company guidelines within all ATI Official Documents.
  • Assists in quality management, research, public relations, and program development projects when appropriate.
  • Participates in Company’s Professional Development Plan.
  • May be assigned to be a clinical supervisor for assistant level students.
  • Carries out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintains effective communications at all levels; within the work setting and Company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
