About The Position

The Occupational Therapist II job conducts evaluations on referred patients. This job plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care. This job documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines. The Occupational Therapist II job participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team. This job may provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed. This job may also provide training and education to department and hospital staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist
  • Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience as an Occupational Therapist

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
  • Successful challenge of the VCUHS Occupational Therapy Clinical Ladder
  • Previous experience with evaluations and interventions (physical and psycho-social)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts evaluations on referred patients.
  • Plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care.
  • Documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.
  • Participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed.
  • Provides training and education to department and hospital staff.
  • Cross-coverage to other treatment teams as needed.
  • Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis and flexibility in work hours as needed to accommodate departmental needs as applicable.
  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
  • Setting schedule and managing time.
  • Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
  • Completion of routine documentation.
  • Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
  • Customer interaction.
