About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills after illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans consistent with physician orders and agency policies.

Requirements

• Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or successor organizations of ACOTE.
• Current occupational therapy license for the state assigned.
• Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists.
• At least 1 year of related occupational therapy experience. For less than 1 year of experience, regional clinical leader approval and appropriate mentoring and/or an established residency program are required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
• Ensure the plan of care addresses all problems identified in the assessment, or document why identified problems are not addressed.
• Maintain accountability for the safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy service delivery.
• Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
