The Occupational Therapist provides home health therapy services while maintaining a high degree of care quality and supervising therapy assistants. The role evaluates patients’ functional status and home environments, identifies equipment needs, and participates in developing and communicating plans of care. It develops treatment programs and goals, supports patients in regaining or learning daily activities, and may provide work capacity evaluations, fabricate splints, and train patients in adaptive, prosthetic, or orthotic equipment use. The therapist maintains clinical records, coordinates care with other personnel, identifies needs for additional home health services, instructs families and caregivers, participates in discharge planning, and follows company policies and applicable standards and regulations. When therapy is the only skilled service, the therapist instructs, supervises, and evaluates home health aide care every 14 days.
