About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills following illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies.

Requirements

Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or successor organizations of ACOTE.
Current license to practice occupational therapy in the state assigned.
Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Eligible to take, or has successfully completed, the entry-level occupational therapist certification examination administered by NBCOT.
Current CPR certification.
One year of related occupational therapy experience. Candidates with less than one year of experience require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or an established residency program.

Responsibilities

Deliver occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
Ensure the plan of care addresses problems identified in the assessment, or document why identified problems are not addressed.
Be accountable for the safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy service delivery.
Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
Perform other duties as assigned.
